Healthy Shelves supports the nutritional health of individuals who are food-insecure and also living with diabetes, heart disease, chronic kidney disease, and other chronic diseases.
Since 2015, Healthy Shelves has:
- Advised schools, businesses, faith-based organizations, and others on how to organize food drives that promote the donation of food items that support individuals living with chronic conditions
- Developed and field tested Healthy Shelves Recipes, which are designed to meet special dietary requirements
- Created the Healthy Shelves Rx and other materials for health professionals, food pantry volunteers, and consumers
- Supported the development of customized Healthy Shelves Shopping Lists for seasonal food drives and local organizations or community campaigns
- Offered continuing education presentations to local coalitions as well as government, academic and professional associations
Healthy Shelves grew as a result of the collaborative work of the three Healthy Shelves founders: Lisa Stark, Cindy Huber, and Jill Herz.
